National Philanthropy Day® recognizes
the contributions of philanthropy—and those people
active in the philanthropic community—to the enrichment
of our world. More than 100 AFP chapters in North America
celebrate this special day. The Greater Cleveland Chapter
(AFPGC) holds an awards luncheon each November that recognizes
charitable accomplishments throughout the region by honoring
a local philanthropist, fundraising volunteer, foundation,
corporation and student involved with philanthropy. Professional
development workshops and a vendor exhibition are also available
for those involved in the philanthropic community. National
Philanthropy Day® is
AFPGC's largest fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting member
scholarships and annual programming. Contact Beth Brown.
The Professional Development Committee is responsible
for the oversight of professional education opportunities
for members and the fundraising community such as the Essentials
in Fundraising course and CFRE education and training, professional
development activities, and the Chapter's Annual Meeting.
Contact Laura J. Frye.
The Resource Development Committee is responsible for the oversight of activities related to
National Philanthropy Day events and awards and the annual
Every Member Campaign. In addition, the committee creates
opportunities for corporate sponsorships, foundation grants
and individual philanthropic support of local AFP programs.
