Job Posting: Development Specialist, Part time, 15 to 20 hours per week
Position Summary: Lake Erie Nature & Science Center (the Center) is a nonprofit organization located in Bay Village which provides educational programs for children, families, and students. The Center seeks a Development Specialist to join our fundraising team, which serves a key role in funding the organization’s mission. The Development Specialist will provide database support and project coordination for the Center’s fundraising efforts within the Development department. Philanthropic funds raised by the Center constitute more than 40% of its operating budget.
Responsibilities: The Development Specialist is responsible for database functions and project coordination. Database functions include data entry, customized donor correspondence, generating database queries and reports, sorting and analyzing data, and general maintenance of electronic constituent records. Project coordination includes supporting the annual benefit and other patron events, and assisting with other fundraising projects. Specifically, support of the annual benefit event includes attending volunteer committee meetings, helping to implement logistics, managing an event budget, and tracking ticket purchasers and underwriters. The Development Specialist schedule requires 15 to 20 hours per week Monday through Friday with frequent evenings, all days within the week prior to the event and including the day and evening of the event on August 25, 2018.
Qualifications: Candidates must have familiarity or experience with constituent management systems, customer databases, or fundraising software. Successful performance in this position requires accuracy, attention to detail, excellent customer relations, excellent organizational skills, time management proficiency, and professional conduct.
