Position Description: Develops and implements a comprehensive development and church-based relations program to support the needs of older adult residents of Wesleyan Village and Wesleyan Meadows, as well as strategic capital needs of the community. Leads annual giving, planned giving, corporate, foundation, and other giving campaigns. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and five to seven years progressively responsible fundraising or institutional advancement experience. Self-starter with broad exposure to and demonstrated success in multiple facets of fundraising, including annual fund, planned giving, major gifts, special events, creative and grant writing and research, and successful relationship building skills. Proven success in solicitations and gift closure. Ability to think collaboratively, strategically, and creatively, and recognize opportunities, identify critical, high pay-off activities, and prioritize them to attain goals. Ability to effectively represent Wesleyan and interface with a wide variety of constituents, as well as within organizational structures of the United Methodist Church. Proven ability to analyze and prepare data, develop and deliver presentations and proposals. Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communications and problem solving skills. Ability to engage warmly with older adults and a sincere desire to advocate for their needs. Demonstrated understanding of ethics related to development activities; ability to use discretion in interactions with donors and prospects. PC proficiency that includes aptitude in interpreting inputting, and analyzing database output.
Desired Qualifications: Experience in health-related or faith-based fundraising. Proficiency with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, Crescendo, and/or similar fundraising applications. Social media and editorial skills. Understanding of the United Methodist Church.
